Freighter fire, Pearl river estuary

Fire erupted in superstructure of a general cargo vessel JIA YUAN 19 late at night July 14. Vessel, understood bound for repairs, was anchored in Guishan area anchorage, Pearl River estuary, in ballast, with 6 crew on board. SAR ship NANHAIJIU116 was sent to fight fire, firefighting went on throughout the night and well into the morning July 15. Six crew were evacuated, fire, said to start in one of crew cabins, was extinguished.
