Collision on Shanghai inner anchorage, freighter sank, 10 missing

Cargo ships CHANGPING and XINWANG138, both loaded with steel, collided at night Jan 2 on Shanghai inner anchorage, CHANGPING sank after collision. SAR was launched to rescue CHANGPING’s 13 crew at 2335 Beijing time Jan 2. By 0100 three crew were rescued, including Chief Officer, ten crew remain missing. SAR ships and boats and helicopter are deployed. Top of CHANGPING bridge remained above water, sunk ship doesn’t affect traffic because she sank outside fairway.
