Are you nuts, people?

The more I read the updates on SANCHI fire, the more I feel dumbfounded by what’s said by media and by environmentalists. All they can talk about is that proverbial “ecological catastrophe”, which is about to happen and destroy all life in East China sea. What about those 31 crew, who’re, at least some of them, surely still alive, trapped inside this floating inferno and going through hellish ordeal?
I mean, I understand of course, that many people and organizations around are agitated by the perspectives of profits they’ll reap, if there will be a big oil leak. I think, personally, that there won’t be any big, let alone “catastrophic”, oil leak, it’s a pure fear-mongering, fuelled by people who could greatly profit from large-scale oil leak. From “environmentalists” to politicians to international organizations and so on, each big disaster brings a fortune to those who know how to play it right. Economy and society in general lose, but quite a number of people, organizations and companies gain. There’s a very good example of single-hull tankers hysteria after PRESTIGE disaster. Ok, humankind wasted a fortune (we don’t know the scale of that waste so far) on double-hull tankers, did it help? Did it make tankers safer from some serious accident (and that’s what many sound-minded people warned about)? No, it didn’t. What is it they’ll demand now – triple-hulled tankers? Unsinkable tankers? What new restrictions they’ll demand, what new power and funds they will say they need “to prevent future disasters”?
Still, I don’t understand how all those people, from “environmentalists” to media, can be so hollow-hearted and indecent, to forget about 31 souls, so shamelessly and completely. Are you nuts, people?
